I do belive thay remember there smell. i gave one of my cat's kittens to my brother. he brought his cat over one day 3 years latter. mom cat hist at her baby at first. then my brothers cat meowed and the mom cat walked over and started to clean my brothers cat. i think they remember the smell and love in there heat for there baby.
