In general, the larger the hole in the eardrum, the greater the temporary loss of hearing. The location of the perforation also affects the degree of hearing loss.
Typically, it should heal on it's own. I am dealing with it now and outside of the chance of middle ear infection, the eardrum shoud heal within 6-8 weeks. You should make sure you see a specialist...
