an ectopic pregnancy has the same symptoms and signs as a regular pregnancy and you still develop the hormones you would with a normal pregnancy. The human chorionic gonadotropin levels are what cause the pregnancy test to read positive. All pregnancies have hcg levels that should be doubling every other day in early gestation.. an ectopic pregnancy may test negative if taken too early, or too late because the body will eventually,(around 6-11 weeks) begin to try to expel the pregnancy when hormone levels begin to drop when the fetus is no longer viable and must be removed

∙ 16y agoYou can test negative with an HPT with any pregnancy. I know of women you were two months pregnant before they got a positive test result. If you think you may have an ectopic pregnancy go see your doctor immediately because if the tube ruptures you are in big trouble.

∙ 13y agoYes! Go to the doctor NOW if you suspect an ecptoic pregnancy. Caught early enough, they can be dealt w and the woman will have a 100% chance of conceiving and delivering a perfectly happy, full-term baby. But if you wait, the consequences can be fatal.

∙ 14y agoAlthough the chances are slim with a urine test performed at a doctor's office, it still can be possible to receive a negative result early in an ectopic pregnancy. If you used a home test the chances are slightly higher. If you think it is possible that you are experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, you need to go to the doctor or health department. An ectopic pregnancy can be very dangerous.

∙ 14y agoThe short answer is no. If the pregnancy test is negative, you are not pregnant, and therefore you cannot have an ectopic pregnancy.
The long answer is somewhat more complex. There have been case reports in the medical literature of women with demonstrated ectopic pregnancy that had negative urine and even blood pregnancy tests. It is uncertain why this occurred in these circumstances, but it should be noted that this is VERY RARE.
For the overwhelming majority of women, a negative pregnancy test means ectopic pregnancy is an impossibility.

∙ 13y agoNo. It will still show as pregnant. Of course everyone is different, but I took two and almost immediately it said I was pregnant. A week later I found out it was ectopic.
