Can alcohol cause obesity? |

Alcohol and Obesity
Alcohol is very high in calories, and it also can affect the way the body metabolises. Your body can react by storing it as fat rather than using it as fuel. More than one drink a day, and certainly binge drinking, is likely to increase your weight, while lesser amounts evenly spread won't. Sometimes the environment in which you are drinking can contribute to weight gain as well. Eating high calorie snacks, little activity and smoking often go together with a drinking session, which compounds the problem as each on their own have been linked to weight increase.
