Insurance Coverage Termination
Here are opinions from FAQ Farmers:
Yes an Insurer can cancel or non renew your policy in accordance with your states reglations for a number of reasons. Reasons for a cancellation or non-renewal can include but are not limited to the following. A substantial change in risk factors related to your coverage. Diminished capacity to accept risks in your region, such as when after a major storm has depleted the insurers reserve funds due to claims. They may also occassionally change qualifying criteria for certain policy lines. if an Insurer changes for example to a credit scoring component in their rating system, the insured may find they no longer qualify at renewal time for the policy previously issued.
- I'm sure they can do anything they want. But if you've never filed a claim, I don't know why they would. Unless you've had a lot of late or missed payments. If you don't know the reason, you should call and talk to them. It could be a mistake.
