Can an officer be a field medic in the us army if he chooses to?

Answer:

Very little you do in the army is because you want to, that said if the officer is already a medical officer, I am sure that he or she could volunteer for field duty as opposed to work in a hospital or clinic, of course there is a non voluntary rotation system called PROFIS which ensures that these slots get filled.
