However rheumatoid arthritis RA is a form of arthritis which is an autoimmune disease and a disease in its own right. It must be noted however that the cause for Rheumatoid arthritis is as yet not known and that flareups in the disease can often coincide with infection or injury in seemingly unassociated situations.
