Sounds like it could. What is definition of a condition treated? Just because one is pregnant doesn't mean that you know you are. Is this policy provided under State Disability Insurance, a Group plan or individual? as maternity can't be excluded under a group policy - need to check if that includes disability or just medical. Most short term disability policies include an exclusion for normal birth within the first nine months of the policy effective date. So unless your baby is delivered really late, you will not qualify for a benefit.

If someone has nystagmus can they receive disability?

If the Nystagmus condition this person has is severe enough, then yes they can qualify for Disability benefits. However it is not the simple fact of having Nystagmus that will enable them to receive Disability benefits.Disability insurance companies and Social Security disability do not look at the specific condition a claimant has, but more so the effect this condition has on the person's ability to work. Disability insurance will only pay benefits when a person is prevented from working due to an illness or injury. Therefore, if the Nystagmus prevents a person from being able to work, then depending on the Disability insurance policy they have, there is a good chance they can qualify for benefits. If the Nystagmus causes does not prevent the person from being able to work, then they will not be eligible for benefits.

Will moving to another state affect your disability benefits?

Your individual disability insurance policy is portable and benefits will not be affected by moving to a different state. If you have disability insurance through your employer, and move in a new state while working for the same employer, benefits will not be changed. However, if you leave your employer, you may lose the disability insurance benefits through a group DI policy. If you are currently disabled and are receiving disability benefits from the state, you will have to check with the new state regulations on social security DI; If you are receiving benefits through a personal/ individual insurance policy from an insurance company, then benefits are not going to be affected by the state of residence.

What causes a disability?

A disability is caused by an accident or illness. The illness can be acute or chronic. Whether or not you're eligible to receive any benefits due to your disability depends on what kind of insurance coverage you have. If your disability is work-related, you may be entitled to workers comp benefits that your employer may have purchased. In most states, this is required. You may also be eligible for government benefits that you've paid for with income taxes. If your disability is not work-related, you still may be eligible for government benefits or you may purchased a personal disability insurance policy to pay you benefits. Whether you receive disability benefits from your own insurance policy or a government plan, the definition of disability contained in the policy will tell you what constitutes a disability. Did you mean to ask, what is the definition of disability? That can vary from policy to policy and, since that kind of insurance can be very complex, I would check for your particular policy. mcdlife.com

Can you collect Workers Comp and Disability Insurance in the State of Mass?

Yes, the disability insurance payments can be paid on top of any workers comp payments received, if the policy's benefit is not integrated with any supplemental benefits. If your disability insurance policy is integrated with supplemental disability benefits, then the disability payments will be offset dollar for dollar by any mount received from workers comp or social security. That's why when you get a disability insurance policy, it is advised to include all or most of the disability benefit amount as "base benefit" which does not offset by any supplemental benefits received.
