xbox had the hd-DVD and ps3 had the blu-ray but the xboxs hd-DVD drive was an external accessory and that is discontuned because blu-ray was the winner
Microsoft may never make a blu-ray drive so they made up for that with the Netflix movie rental directly on the xbox

∙ 9y agoNo it does not play blu ray discs but it can play regular discs and CDs but no sorry it does not support blu ray. PS3 supports blu Ray but that's a whole different story because blu ray came out AFTER Xbox was released but I guess before PS3 was released.
