Yes for LARGE enogh dogs that need it, but don't expect to get a prescription for it from your vet. I informed my vet that I had a some Vicodin and wanted to know if I could give my dog one of my pills when needed. My vet said "yes, it was okay". However, you should discuss with your vet, as it all depends on the breed/size, type of pain, and the dog's current life expectancy. Example: Vicodin will not work for inflamation, and could be toxic for little dogs. My dog is a 90 lb, 11 year old, golden retriever, who has transitional cell carcinoma which has spread. I only give her one maybe once or twice a week when she is having a really bad day. She does very well on them, often going from lethargic on the couch panting to wanting to play/cuddle/sometimes sleep. It would NOT be safe to give to a dog daily, or over a long period because of addiction/withdrawls/damage to liver (as is the case for humans). Nor would it be wise to give a human dosage to a very small animal, because of possible overdose. An alternative pain medication, more readily available, and recommended by vets for pain control in dogs is TRAMADOL. Talk to a vet about getting the right dosage based on your pet's weight. Good luck to you! Note: I am not a vet, and so this information is only based on my dog's experience. You are best to just ask your vet if it's okay for your dog.

Hydrocodone is 100% safe for dogs. After a surgery of any severity, its commonly prescribed. Tylenol is the other ingredient and is not a good medicine to give a dog.AnswerNO it is not safe for a dog to take vicodin. what a silly question! I suggest wahtever propblems your dog has to it to the vet, and they will prescribe a treatment for your dogs needs.

This last statement is incorrect. Dogs are often prescribed "human" medicines, such as tramadol, vicodin and morphine. See your vet about this. I have had two different vets suggest 5/325 hydrocodone/APAP (vicodin) for my large breed dogs.

The hydrocodone that they prescribe to dogs is different than the hydrocodone they prescribe to humans. The kind that vets use have no Tylenol in them, and Tylenol in NOT good for dogs!

No, dogs should not have Advil.

Advil is a brand of ibuprofen - a drug that can cause serious side effects in dogs (such as vomiting, diarrhoea, acute renal failure and seizures). If your dog needs pain relief, please contact your vet as even the doses for safe drugs will be different from humans.

no human stuff culd make animals sike

Answer#2

The above should read - no, you shouldn't give animals medications meant for humans.

NO! TYLENOL IS TOXIC TO DOGS!!A lot of the medicines that are used for dogs and cats are the exact same as those used for humans. However, Dogs and cats can not take Tylenol becasue it is toxic to them. If your pet is in pain you should see a vet and consider Rimadyl or Metacam. You CAN give them a child's dose of aspirin one time just to make them comfortable until they get to a vet.

The answer would have to be NO. dogs, like other animals, react very differently to drugs that were developed for humans and those same medications only work because of extensive study - it would be unwise and probably harmful to administer any med meant for people, even aspirin, to your pet. Play it safe, go see a vet

I wouldn't suggest it...especially Vicodin...My vet suggested children's aspirin for my rat terrier's Arthritis, but the best option would be to get vet prescribed meds for ur pets pain...good luck

NO! do not give your dog this drug! it is bad for them! The opiate in Percocet acts as a respiratory suppressor and the dog could suffocate.
