Until the dog's testosterone drops to the levels of a castrated dog, yes your male could still try to mate a female dog in heat. Also, if your male was castrated at an older age after he's learned mounting as dominance behavior, he may continue to do this for the rest of his life.

If the dog was freshly neutered, any mating for a few days after can result in pregnancy. The chances are very small, but live sperm can remain in other areas of their reproductive system. Talk to your vet after the procedure to find out more.

A neutered male dog is incapable of mating and will usually ignore a female. A male dog that has only been "fixed" (had a vasectomy) will still have the drive to mate and will attempt to, but it will be incapable of siring puppies.

Yes he can. When they neuter a dog they only remove his ability to produce sperm not mate.

No, neutered dogs can not breed--they are considered sterile because the testicles, which are the storage centers for the sperm, are removed in their entirety.

No, Spayed (not spaded) dogs cannot be bred or develop babies inside them. Most dogs have a litter size of 3 to 6 dogs per litter.

They can still mate. But because they're neutered they can't attract female dogs, therefore they don't.

What does it mean to get a dog spayed?

To get a dog spayed means to take it to the vet, I think it's surgery or something or maybe an injection I seriously don't know, but after the dog gets spayed it is unable to breed. It is a surgery.

In a male dog, he has been neutered i.e. he's been castrated For a female, she has been spayed i.e. ovaries and uterus removed. They can no longer breed.

Your dog is 4 yr old but she has no signs to be in heat?

I suggest that your dog has been spayed. If your dog has been spayed she will not go into heat.

Can two dogs have puppies when one is spayed and the other is not?

Spaying is the removal of the ovaries from a female dog. No dog that is spayed can have puppies. No female dog can have puppies with another female dog. If you are asking about a male dog, the correct term is neutered, not spayed.

Can dogs still be pregnant after being spayed?

NO! That's the whole point of getting spayed. If your dog is supposedly spayed and gets pregnant, first i would go to the vet and check before i assume she is pregnant. Then, if she really is pregnant, I would call up the place where the dog got "spayed" and sue them but make sure you have a reciet or papers of some sort

To be in a dog show do you only have to be a full breed?

If you're entering a show in North America (under AKC or CKC standards), your dog needs to be a recognized purebreed. It also cannot be neutered or spayed.

Why don't dog shows allow spayed and neutered dogs?

Conformation shows are designed as a way for responsible breeders to showcase their dogs and display their breeding stock. The goal is to show other breeders their dogs in hopes that they will find a good potential pairing they can breed to produce quality puppies. Bringing a spayed or neutered dog to such an event would be considered pointless, since they cannot breed.
