Depends on the amount of tar that was consumed and how long it has been going on. Tar contains creosote which, if consumed, can cause throat, mouth and stomach pains. Severe skin irritation, eye burns, convulsions, unconsciousness, and even death have resulted from the consumption of large amounts of creosote.
