However, that being said, there are surgical procedures which have been able to resect the entirely of the affected area involved, and occasionally radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy have effected long-lasting remissions. It really depends on the stage and grade of the cancer (and how large an area of the esophagus is involved). Consult your oncologist in your particular case. It is important, also, to have this condition diagnosed properly, and treated as early as possible.
