Can evolution and creation coexist? In: Creation |
Answer
Can evolution and creation coexist? They're doing a fair job so far, and this in spite of the fact that some zealots would drag the two down into the mud for some kind of wrestling match.
God created the earth and populated it with all manner of critters before finishing off with the creation of man. How did the wonders come to be? God created them, but by what machinery? God has infinite power. He could simply will them into existence. No scientific proof is needed for that. We look to the heart and the mystery there. What is needed is only the sublime gift of faith. Only that! Science cannot disprove God.
And science is not trying to disprove God. Science is in the business of exploring the natural world. Of finding out how it works. Of erecting systems of investigation and pursuing the facts, wherever they lead. Science solves puzzles. Scientists use what is arguably the finest natural resource - the mind of man - to pry into the cracks in the appearance of things. And as regards the progression of life on the earth, the theory of evolution offers an answer based on (overwhelming) available facts. The facts paint a staggering picture of the history of life on earth. The wonder of life - in all its forms both past and present - is on display for all to see!
Answer
- Creation and Evolution are the same thing, it's just that creation was written in a time when people didn't have the ability to understand something like evolution and how long it took to reach the stage we are now. God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th, but how long is one of God's days compared to ours. One of God's days could be a million years to us or more. As for the parts of the old testament that speaks of what God has said or done: such as Genisis; had to be bestowed on the authors of the Tora (the original hebrew text in which the old testament was pulled from) from a higher power, because they had no way of knowing. If it said God created the world, and then all the animals in it aswell as humans by starting with single celled organisms and making us evolve into marine life, then land walking mammals would have confused people in those days. Basically we weren't ready for that knowledge. Evolution is just a perfect method to make us earn our existence in this physical world God has made for us.
- We aren't done evolving either, I see us gaining more usage of our brains, seeing as we only use a small portion of it now. I believe Adam and Eve had complete use of their brains, which is why we could talk to God so directly, aswell as the animals, and etc. Though the bitten apple kicked that in the butt, however it was necessasary. God needed us to see that if he put us in such a glorious place such as Eden and give us full usage of our minds, easily accessable nutrition, and etc.(basically everything we could ever need in the most comfortable setting), with out earning it first, we wouldn't appreciate it and would misuse it, just as we did. The difference of our time and God's, aswell as the accuracy of timing in which knowledge is accessable to us is the key to this religious revolution I feel rising to the surface of our society.
- So, in a nutshell; yes, creation and evolution can coexist. Basically because; the are the same story of our history and journey as a species, they're just told differently. People need to stop taking the Bible so literally, and realize that it's not a constitution, it's more like a handbook to read and draw our own conclusions from considering when and where we are in this space and time. It was written in a way so that it could be used through the ages, no matter what changes occured; culturally, religuosly, politically, and so on and so forth.
