I always use my foundation as my eyeshadow primer! It worked amazing with me and it leaves me with less worry about the primer making my eyelids lighter or darker than my skintone. It also keeps the eyeshadow put in place It might not work with all foundations though, I use Clinique Almost Makeup foundation (the one with spf 15) it's amazing!

No because a primer is just a sheer or lightly coloured base that you apply to the lid to get the fullest colour out of your eyeshadows. Because liner is usually quite dark, it is only supposed to be used for your lashline to enhance the look and size of your eye. If you don't have an actual eyeshadow primer, light concealers are almost the same and work just as well.

No. Primers are made to help keep your makeup on longer. They have no pigment, so they won't work as a foundation.

BTW, if you buy a face primer and an eye primer, you're wasting your money--face primer works well as eye primer. However! I'm still trying to figure out what priming your face does for you that applying moisturizer just before you start applying makeup, and wearing foundation on your eyelids, does not.

It's bad for your skin to put it all over your face.

Yes, eye primer (goes under eyeshadow) works as face primer (goes under foundation). Or face primer works as eye primer.

Why does primer go first?

I am assuming that you mean primer for your eyes. Well primer goes on first to allow eyeshadow to fully show its colour and to avoid creasing throughout the day. Without primer, the eyeshadow will be faint and the oils from your eyelids will cause it to crease or gather in one spot.

What can you use as a substitute for eyeshadow base?

A substitute for an eyeshadow base or primer is hard to find but what ive found what works well is either a regular face moisturizer/lotion or chap stick. A moisturizer/lotion works good for powder eyeshadow, while chapstick works better with cream eyeshadow or glitter. Remember watever you use rub it in evenly all over your lids!! :) hope i could help!!

What is a makeup primer?

Makeup Primer is used in order to prepare the face for makeup to be applied. It is designed to fill in fine lines and pores, as well as provide smooth and oil free skin. Makeup Primer is typically made up of silicones, waxes and polymers which form a bond with makeup and help it to last longer. Using primer around the eye area can be especially helpful since it will prevent eyeshadow from creasing. Best of all, those who use makeup primer usually find that they need to use less makeup in order to achieve their desired look.

What do you use as a base on your eyes before wearing eyeshadow?

I usually use my foundation, it helps the eyeshadow grip onto your eyelid making it last longer. You can also use a face primer which is meant to go under make-up. To make your eyeshadow hold longer I recommend closing your eyes covering your forehead and spraying your eyes LIGHTLY lol with hairspray. It works like a dream and is extremely practical.

Well, for makeup just do some natural face (if you wear face makeup), like powder and my be some foundation or concealer. On the eyes don't cake on your mscara or eyeshadow. Do some appropriate cold for your eyeshadow like earthtones. Keep it light on eyeliner or just line the top. :)

How do you keep eyeshadow form going to the crease?

You mean after you wear it for a couple hours? You use a base or a primer. They keep your eyeshadows from creasing, keeps them vibrant, and makes them apply better. You technically can use an eyeliner or concealer, but they don't work as well as an actual base or primer. Such examples are Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC Paint Pots, and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Cheaper brands such as NYX and L'Oreal have some too.

What is that product that turns powder eyeshadow into liquid?

I've used Face Atelier's Transforming Gel - it works really well, but its fairly pricey. You can order a sample size of it for much less, and see if you think it's worth it. As well, I have read that you can simply use water, but I haven't had as much luck with that. Hope this helps!

Should primer be sticky?

Primer can sometimes be sticky if it does not dry well or is put on too thick. In most cases where there is low humidity a primer should not be sticky.

What is a 209 primer?

Well......... As far as I know, a 209 primer isn't a paint primer at all. It is an ignition source for the powder in a bullet. There are a few different types, 209 being one of the most common. They're most commonly used in shotgun shells, and black powder rifles.
