There are tons of hair gel made by different companies.
Most hair gels that I know of such as Ampro have protein in them.
Hair is nothing but protein.
If you are using a hard hair gel, wash it out gently, if you brush it and the gel is hard, I'm sure you will see some hair loss such as shedding.
Try to avoid gel that has a lot of alcohol in them which is drying to your hair which can lead to a bit of shedding and dry hair.
Other than that I don't see anything wrong with hair gel.
