When the babies are born, the male will have to be seperated because he could get jelOus and hurt them. The babies can live with the female for a couple of months but then you have to seperate the male and female babies because then they start to breed again
Yes, most adult hamsters can live together, but syrian (common) hamsters need to be kept alone as they fight for terriotary.
yes. all hamsters either fight or have babies together even if they were in the same litter!
No
Even hamsters that are siblings will fight because they like to live alone. Dwarf hamsters can live together though, but only if they re brought up together.
3 months
Not if you dont want babies and, if you do seperate the pups, bacause the father hamsters always kill or even eat the pups because he doesnt want them.
You should not let hamsters live together. Syrian hamsters are solitary creatures, though, while dwarfs are more social. You could let them live together, though, if they are of the same gender and preferably, of the dwarf variety. Though, at one time, I had two male, Syrian hamsters, who were brothers, living in the same cage, and they never fought.
You should get two, because they are happier together as they are very sociable animals, plus then you get more cute hamsters!
Usually the mother of the hamsters wouldn't let them near their babies...
All hamsters can have 5 - 12 babies with the average of 10 babies.
Yes my hamsters live together and my father and sons hamsters do aswel, but I think I have been able to do this as the are Campbell's hamsters and were introduced at a young and met in a box regularly
It depends. Syrian and Teddy Bear hamsters will kill each other if they are the SAME gender , even if they are related. There will be less fights if you put hamsters of the opposite gender together to mate. Dwarf hamsters live in groups, so female dwarfs and male dwarfs won't attack each other and will have babies peacefully.
If you want two hamsters to mate then it is up to you what type. Syrian hamsters are very terrotorial and like to live on their own so their is a chance that there will be fighting if you put them together. Russians and dwarfs like to live in pairs so this might be a good idea. Remember you need to think about what you are going to do with the babies because these will again mate.
