Can hamsters and guinea pigs live in the same cage? |
[Edit] |
Answer
DO NOT let them live together. Hamsters are very territorial and can be aggressive, the hamster can and will kill the guinea pigs
Answer
Sure, as long as they get along I'm sure it would be more enjoyable for them than living alone!
Answer
No. If they get along then visits would be okay. However, hamsters and guinea pigs have different nutritional needs. A hamster's diet should consist mostly of seeds and nuts. A guinea pig should not have access to very many seeds, if any. Also, consider their sleeping habits. They are complete opposites. Hamsters are mostly awake at night and guinea pigs during the day. They probably would interrupt each others sleep.
Answer
I don't recommend it. They are different animals with different needs, and hamsters can be grouchy and if it bit the guinea pig it wouldn't be pleasant. Guinea pigs need companionship so keep a pair together (preferably females). Hamsters are solitary creatures; keep them on their own.
