3) Find a company that has been in business for at least 5 years.

The longer the better. Chances are they know what they're doing and are a reputable company. If they weren't, they wouldn't be in business for very long. There are very few companies that have actually been in business this long or longer. How do you find out? You simply type in the web address and they will tell you when the web site was first created. This will give you a good idea how long they have been around.
