Yes-- The bladder is a muscle that stretches to hold urine and contracts when the urine is released. Waiting long causes the bladder to stretch beyond its capacity which over a period of time can weaken the bladder muscle. When the bladder is weakened it may not empty completely and some urine is left in the bladder which may increase the risk of urinary tract infection or bladder infection.
I love answering simple questions. The answer is yes. Why? because bladder infections are pretty bad
and you don't want that. If you have a bladder infection, you need to see a doctor right away. It's never happened to me but If you hold your urine for too long, that could cause a bladder infection. Who wants that? Nobody! (I'm a girl) My name is Lauren Greiner and I'm 12 years old if you were wondering. Am I pretty smart at this? I'm in 6th grade and I sure do know a whole lot! I hope you know a lot of stuff like me even if you're in a different grade, you could be as smart as me. Or being plder or younger than me! En of conversation. See you next time! Bye!
Urine infection if left unattended can get bad and damage the bladder. The muscles can loosen and cause frequent urination. Also if there is a blockage and the brain is not getting proper signals, it can send wrong signals to empty the bladder even when it's not full.
Holding urine is definitely not good! If it sits in your bladder for a long time it can cause a urinary tract infection, bladder infection or even a kidney infection.

Substances in the urine that irritate the bladder may cause the bladder muscle to malfunction. The presence of a urinary tract infection and the ingestion of excess caffeine can act as irritants.
