Not particularly, hydrogen peroxide is fairly harmless at the common 3% concentration. It is used for inducing vomiting in dogs that have ingested poison. Pour it down the dog's throat and up it comes. It works on people, too. It might not be a good idea to use it on rats because they don't vomit. Some people use it for mouthwash. It doesn't taste very good so you shouldn't need to worry about your pet drinking it.

Higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, up around 30% or higher become dangerous by being a good oxidizing agent. Explosive decomposition could occur if a catalyst is introduced.

To get a feel for that, take a half cup of 3% peroxide, mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid then sprinkle some dry baking yeast into it...do it outside. The gas making the foam is oxygen.

Yes, hydrogen peroxide is very noxious and irritating, and causes mucus membrane damage. However, in emergency situations, it can be used to induce vomiting in about 50% of cats - your veterinarian will tell you how to do this if you ever need to.

I'm not sure if that will kill fleas on a dog or indeed if using such a substance on a dog will harm the animal.

The risk of fleas is always present with dog ownership and there are any number of treatments and remedies which are readily available. Many are designed to prevent fleas.

If your dog does start with a flea problem the key is to break the lifecyle of the flea to stop it getting worse. Products to assist with this are available from any good pet store.

Preventative measures can also be taken in the home. For example it is important that the dog's bedding and the floor is treated. Vacuuming and washing is also vital.

Flea preventon and destruction is important to keep the dog in the best possible health and stop associated problems developing such as infections and hair loss.

Hydrogen peroxide will certainly kill fleas and your dog depending on the concentration of H2O2 and amount used. Instead, you should wash the dog and put down flea powder in both the yard and household where he lives. Vacuum frequently, putting the bag into a garbage bag right away. Any bedding should be washed in hot water and soap. There are insecticides that interrupt the gestation of fleas and if you periodically use that, it should help.

If you are cleaning a cut, (other than a small sting) not much, but if feeding your dog or washing him/her, yes, ingestion can be fatal. Do not spill peroxide and neglect to clean it up, a puppy could assume it is water and lap it up.

If you give enough of the hydrogen peroxide, it will make your dog vomit. In a case of poisoning that needed to be brought up by vomiting, then the hydrogen peroxide can be helpful but other than that, it will just be uncomfortable for the dog if given internally.
