With few exceptions, no. If you earn the EIB (or CIB) as an infantryman, then you reclass to another MOS, you can still wear it. If you earn the EIB as a non-11 series MOS, then reclass to infantry, you should be eligible to wear it. If you test for it as a non-11 Series, and never reclass to infantry, you can't wear it, even if you complete the testing. However, if you do complete the testing, you should be able to use the points towards promotion.

Can mp's wear a combat infantry badge serving in combat in Vietnam?

No. Unless he was later assigned to an INFANTRY unit and that unit (his unit) was directly involved with combat operations with a hostile enemy. "Only" during the Vietnam War could a GI with an artillery, armor, MP, engineer, etc. MOS obtain a CIB if he was assigned to a 11B (MOS) job in the US Infantry and engaged in combat with the enemy. A artilleryman, armor crewman (tank crewman), MP, etc. could be transfered to a grunt unit and end up in contact w/the enemy; WITHOUT his primary MOS being changed. Thus qualifying him to wear the CIB. The 11B (nicknamed 11Bullet Stopper in Vietnam) would or could be awarded as his secondary MOS. Regardless of the MOS change or not, if he was in a grunt outfit and he was in "enemy contact" with that outfit, he's awarded the CIB (on orders). After Vietnam the US Army took the MOS far more seriously and awarded it to only 11B men. But during the war men were needed everywhere all the time! Consequently the needs of the service came first and awards came after those needs were served. Another words after Vietnam "it took an act of congress" to pull a tanker off his machine and put him in another MOS, especially if he didn't like it. But during the war a man went where he was ordered...like it or not.

What is 11B30G MOS?

11B is for Infantry. 30 is for skill level of Staff Sergeant (E-6). G is an Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) meaning Ranger qualified. You probably would not want to mess with a soldier with MOS 11B30G.

Can you wear the infantry cord if your not in a infantry unit?

To be able to wear it, you must hold an 11 series, and currently be serving in that MOS. If, for example, you were 11B, then you reclassed to a non-infantry MOS, you wouldn't be authorised to wear the shoulder cord anymore.

Was the army mos 11m eligible for the combat infantry mans badge?

Yes, and a lot of 11M soldiers got it in Operation Desert Storm. You must have an Infantry or Special Forces MOS, be assigned to an Infantry or Special Forces unit and engage in direct combat with the enemy to earn the CIB.

Can an army medic wear the combat action badge?

Yes. Unlike the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, and Combat Action Badge - which are Group I awards - the Combat Medic and Expert Field Medic Badges are Group II awards. The CAB was intended for personnel who are not eligible for the Combat Infantryman Badge. Contrary to what was previously stated, not everyone who serves in an Infantry unit is eligible for a CIB. A Combat Medic in an Infantry unit does not get awarded a CIB, for example. If that unit has dedicated communications personnel assigned to the unit, they're not eligible for the CIB (however, someone with an 11B MOS who is serving as a radiotelephone operator is eligible for a CIB). One interesting contrast with the CAB vs. the CIB and CMB is that the CAB is awarded - at least in theory - only to those who make direct contact with the enemy, whereas the only requirements for the CIB and CMB is that you spend 30 days in a zone for which the award is authorised, whether you make contact or not. Truth of the matter is, there are plenty of CAB recipients who have legitimately earned it - there's also a good number of fobbits who've received them because some mortars landed on the opposite side of the camp they were at. By the way, the Combat Medic badge is no longer exclusive to line medics - from 2001 to 2004, the Army revamped it's MOS classification system. The MOS of 91B (Combat Medic) was removed, and was folded into the MOS of 68W (Healthcare Specialist) - which encompasses a much broader range than the old 91B MOS did. Thus, you have medics being awarded CMBs who've never so much as left the FOB.

Who qualifies for the army expert field medical badge?

It used to be reserved solely for actual Combat Medics, with the MOS of 91B. However, with the Army reorganisation, 91B was folded into the 68W MOS (Healthcare Specialist), which is no longer limited to actual line medics. Anyone with the 68W MOS is elegible for the EFMB (and CMB). Technically, anyone with any MOS can go through the testing, but they cannot wear it without the 68 series MOS.

If you are not infantry and earn a eib can you wear it?

No. You have to either have an 11 series MOS at the time it was awarded or else reclass to an 11 series MOS afterwards in order to be able to wear it. You should be able to use it for promotion points, however.

Who can wear cib?

Anyone can wear a cib, which stands for Combat Infantryman Badge. However, the badge is typically awarded to soldiers in the U.S. Army who have served in an infantry or Special Forces role and have actively engaged in combat.

Can you wear a combat infantryman badge if you did you earn it?

You may only wear a CIB if you a: deployed for 30 days or more continuously in a designated combat zone b: came into direct contact with an enemy force engaging you, regardless of the amount of time you spent in a combat zone AND.. Hold either an 11 series (infantry) or 18 series (Special Forces) MOS. Nobody else is authorised to wear it.
