I am 21, and I just recently had my second child. He was born on April 28t, 2006. I was totally unaware that I was pregnant. I went into a local InstaCare here in town, and they told me to go to the ER because I was in labor. Throughout my pregnancy, I had my period, did not show and only gained a few pounds. I had started working nights, so I would sit and munch all night on food out of boredem. I asked the docotrs after I delivered how I could not have known, and he said that he has seen it before. Sometimes young women who are in shape and physically fit, it will happen to. I am 5' and weigh 113 lbs. I am in great condition. He also said that when women have babies close together, it happens. After having a baby it takes 1 1/2 - 2 years for a woman's body to go back to normal. Sometimes when you have them closer togehter, your body gets "freaked out" as he said and things dont get back to normal like they are supposed to. So it happened to me and it has happend to other women and I am sure it will happen to more. My friend works in the hospital on the maternity ward. A women came into the E.R. and complained of stomach pains, they soon found out that she was in labor. She said she had no idea she was pregnant. (she was a large women also so it didnt show) they rushed her to the maternity ward and she delivered her baby. They had tests done on her and found out that she was using crack. So dyfs took the baby. I have looked after women who did not know they were pregnant until they went into labor. Not just young girls either, some of them were women who had had babies before.
As strange as it may seem, there are women that are so out of touch with their own bodies that they have not known that they are pregnant until ready to give birth.
Not realising you are pregnant is more common in young women who do not know much about their own bodies and therefore miss the signs, often those who have only had sex once or twice and do not consider themselves likely to get pregnant. Some inexperienced young women who lack sex education may not even be sure whether or not they have actually had sex.
In cases of child abuse, the girl may not even have had a period yet, as you can be fertile before your first menstruation, and therefore may not have any idea that she could be pregnant.
For women who have had a traumatic sexual experience such as rape, which they may prefer to blot out and not think about, convincing themselves they are not pregnant can be a way of convincing themselves that the rape did not happen.
Older women entering the menopause may also miss the signs of pregnancy, and put the cessation of periods down to the end of fertility rather than pregnancy. As weight gain, especially around the waist, is not unusual at the menopause, the 'baby bulge, is often put down to this.
It is pretty uncommon, but I personally have known two such cases, one a very young woman, one a peri-menopausal woman, and have also met someone whose parents very famously did not realise they had had penetrative sex until the mother was eight months pregnant - a story that's famous because the mother wrote a memoir which became a best-seller.
yes it is very common for women to miscarry and pass it off as a period
That's the million dollar question!
Watch "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant" on the Discovery Health Channel.
Could u be pregnant and not know
Yes!
I know of a couple of girls who did not know they were pregnant until they were in labour. So i guess you could be and not know. Although i dont understand how women could be pregnant and not know. You would think they would feel the baby move at some point.
i suggest you go to the doctor.
It is possible that you could be pregnant, take a test to know for sure

She could have a pregnancy test, or she could just wait about 9 months and see if a child pops out.
