Yes, My son has been diagnosed as a Mercer Carrier, He continues to get flare-ups where he gets puss filled lumps in different areas of his body, the last flare-up was bad, he had to get the lump cut open under his armpit, drained and packed, then put on a course of Septra Antibiotics, he has just gotten another flare up as of today (This is about his 10th). The lump is the size of a Golf ball. I've called his doctor, who has his records on file and have called in a refill of Septra....

He first got Mercer while pulling out a linoleum floor in a School Bathroom, he got a cut on his hand, The mercer became so bad that the specialist had to cut off his dead fluffing skin....He was taken to the hospital where they ran numerous tests, The tests came back as to Danny being a carrier of this scary MRSA diesese.....Hope this Helps, Collette.

Can you be a carrier If you never had chickenpox?

When people speak of a "carrier" of an infectious disease, they normally are referring to someone who is carrying the germ, can infect others, but has no symptoms. The period between getting the virus and getting symptoms is called the "incubation period" of an infection. The incubation period of chickenpox is 10-21 days, but is typically about two weeks. However, chickenpox is a virus in the herpes family that goes into remission after the patient recovers from chickenpox. The virus stays in your body. It is the same virus that causes shingles in some in later years. However, in this period of remission, the patient is not contagious and isn't, technically, a "carrier."

Can you be a Swine Flu carrier?

Yes you can. A close friend of mine has just been confirmed as having the virus although he isn't showing any signs. The doctors have told him he is a carrier. So although he has it and can pass it to other people, his immune system is strong enough not to show any symptoms. He has been quarantined for 4 weeks so he's not at risk of spreading the virus.
