The FDA and EPA recommend that pregnant women eat no more than 12 ounces (two average meals) of low-Mercury fish or shellfish a week. They advise that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or may become pregnant avoid swordfish, shark, and other high-mercury seafood. I believe sea-bass is low-mercury with an average mercury concentration of 0.219.

its bad for anyone to eat potato chips. lol. but nutriutionally wise, of course it has lots of trans fats and all that unhealthy goodness. BUT, it probably wont hurt. :) go for iit! Also, watch out for the salt content.....Not too many, even though "it's hard to eat just one".

Most fish are safe to eat while pregnant and are a healthy part of the diet. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that four types of fish should not be eaten if you are pregnant or nursing because they could contain enough mercury to damage a fetal brain. Mercury enters the environment through pollution mostly, but can be a natural occurence as well. Almost all fish contain some methylmercury, but fish who live longer and larger fish that eat other fish, such as shark or swordfish, accumulate the highest amounts.

Shark

Swordfish

King mackerel

Tilefish

Eating chips while pregnant never did my late wife any harm. Today our son is a strapping forty year old man! As David Simpson says: eat chips as part of a balanced diet!
