The short answer is yes. I have been doing research on this subject, and have found several authoritative references to how protonix can cause a false positive for THC. One such reference ( http://www.dhss.mo.gov/NursingHomes/LTCBulletinSummer_2008.pdf ) , from the state of Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, describes how a bunch of seniors in a nursing home (falsely) tested positive for THC, and they traced it back to protinix.
Apparently the manufactures are aware of this. I found several references on the internet (search term: "protonix cannabis"). I would suggest you do your research more thoroughly.
Furthermore, be aware, false positives seem to only happen in the urine screening test. The more accurate GCMS test does not capture false positives like the urine tests do. The standard protocols for testing say that if a (less accurate) urine tests comes up positive, the sample should automatically be tested by another more accurate means (most frequently the GCMS test). If this is done, the final result of the test should be negative (assuming there is really no THC in the person being tested).
This is a revised answer to the question above. Many substances can cause false positives drug urinalysis test. I work at a hospital lab and these are the findings we have on file that may produce inaccurate drug test results so take head to these warnings and make sure your urine is clean before having a UA for employment, probation, etc...
THC (Marijuana) false positives include but are not limited to : Over-the-Counter NSAIDS: ibuprofen, Advil, Nuprin, Mediprin, Motrin, Bayer, Select Pain Relief Formula, Excedrin IB Caplets, Genpril, Haltran, Ibuprin, Midol 200, Pamprin, Trendar Cramp Relief Formula, Cramp End Tablets, Medipren, Rufin, Naproxen, Aleve, Keteoprofen, Orudis, Relafen, Voltaren, Over-theCounter Allergy Preparations, Sleep AIds, Anti-Nausea Medications containing promethazine: Phenergeb, Promethegan. Riboflavin (vitamin B-12) Dronabinol, Edecrin.
The list of these medicines will not excuse you you from a false positive reading but if you do fail an UA, you may want to consider having another one taken assuming you are "clean) and without any of the above listed medicines in your system in the last few days.
~good luck!
No. Relafen is not related to THC and will not be detected by the test.
Protonix - non narcotic prescribed for IBS & stomach upset can cause a false positive for canibis/marajauna in some drug tests
what medications cause a false positive on a drug screen for marijuana?
Prenatal vitamins will not cause a positive drug screen.
Diabetes alone will not cause a positive drug screen.
It did, once, for me.
Absolutely it will.
nighquil
Fatigue.
Nitroglycerin will not show up on a standard drug screen.
It should not cause a false positive on a drug test.
When a protein is denatured, this can cause an enzyme to lose its confirmation.
