Brown stains indicate a high iron content. Superchlorinating after refilling or topping the water level is sometimes the culprit. Wait a few hours before adding chlorine. It also sounds like your acid levels are well below the range of the test kit. I would venture to say that your pH is in the range of 3.0 and total alkalinity is in the range of 40 or 50 ppm. Very aggressive water is the cause of your problems. You have no recourse with the builder or plasterer if this is the situation. You'll have to eat the extra cost of replastering the pool. And it is not the salt that is causing the problem. k
