In the US, senators and other elected officials have to resign (give up their offices) to serve as Cabinet officials under the President. This is because the executive branch is not derived from the legislative branch as in parliamentary democracies (i.e. Prime Minister and cabinet).

Many secretaries have been former senators, such as Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.

No. A US senator can not be in the cabinet unless he resigns as senator.

Yes, but he can't be in the senate at the same time. He has to quit the senate first.
