Snails do not shed their shell their shell is apart of their body. A snail shell will grow with the snail. I currently have 3 snails but in spring i hope they breed! I know they dont need to mate but the type i have do.. ;) i hope i helped good luck if u have a snail... ;)

Well, I thought my snail was dead when I saw it out of the shell but it was not dead.So they do come out of their shells.

When snails die, they shrivel up and therefore, come out of their shells.

This is why you only see empty shells and not snails on their own - they get eaten by birds.

No, they add to the existing shell, as land-snails do, and so enlarge the shell as the snail's body grows.
