Can someone give you an example of False consciousness?

False consciousness is the reason lower class citizens vote republican. They have adopted the views of their oppressors. It is the reason why lower income families will vote for tax "cuts" for the rich. Same breaks that wont benefit them at all directly. They dont realize that they aren't helping themselves, but the people who are fighting to keep them struggling. To be blinded by the song and dance and not "realize" where your alliances should really be.

Actually, the answer above is a good example of False Consciousness...it's the process by which proletariat are misled by material and institutional processes in capitalist society(as suggested by Karl Marx).
