Unless your governing documents specify that a time delay between nomination and vote exist when the membership votes for board members, the association could be allowed to accept a nomination at any time. If a time is defined, it should be honoured.

The agenda for the upcoming board meeting could note the addition of new nominees not included in the last meeting's minutes.

The caveat is to document the qualifications of any nominee that includes business experience, condominium board experience, financial, operational or real property expertise and so forth, plus a statement of the nominee's motivation to run for board office.

Any qualified owner who wants to run for a board position and who brings expertise, experience and sometimes good, common sense, is usually an asset to any association. Holding the position of an officer of a legal corporation is a serious undertaking, and usually requires time and energy on the part of any volunteer who steps up to any board role.
