Answer
If you have enough memory slots, generally yes. But it depends on the age and capacity of the computer.
Answer
You can. You must make sure that your motherboard supports the type of ram that your installing. In general: a Pentium 3, AMD K6-3Dnow or Celerons of 1Ghz and less systems uses SD-RAM(comes in flavors such as 66MHz, 100MHz, 133MHz. All three are interoperable although all installed sticks of ram will only run as fast as the slowest ram stick) a Pentium 4, Athlon, Duron, Athlonxp, Athlon-64, AthlonX-2, Celeron, Pentium m use DDR memory. DDR RAM comes in many different flavours with the most popular type being PC3200 (most motherboards will support this) and other types being PC4200, PC4300,PC5300, etc. The higher the number, the faster the RAM. Its worthwhile checking your motherboard to see which RAM it can support. (note: some Pentium 4 motherboards support RD RAM.) an Intel core duo or ATI AM2 system uses DDR2 RAM
To conclude, check your mother board's manual before you attempt to install any RAM.
