It's rare but it does happen. It is usually caused by the IUD slipping out of place or by a defect. If you feel that you could be pregnant and have an IUD in place you should see a Dr as soon as possible to determine if the pregnancy is ectopic, to see if the is any damage from the IUD slipping out of place, and/or to remove the IUD. Pregnancy is very dangerous with an IUD in place.
