∙ 14y agoIf the mold is part of the product - as in blue cheese, brie or some salamis - and you are not allergic to molds, then you can safely eat them. If the mold is not a normal part of the food - as in moldy bread, tomatoes or sour cream - then, it shows that the food is spoiling and should be discarded.

∙ 9y agoSome molds can cause allergic and respiratory problems. Some other molds can produce mycotoxins that can make people sick. When you see mold on food, check beneath the surface of food to where mold takes root. If it's clean down there, the surface mold can be cut off.
These are safe in any case:
Hard cheese, hard salami and cured meat, and firm fruits and veggies. The mold can be cut off.
Unsafe:
Anything moist or soft.
