At this writing (February 2009), Bluetooth on the iPhone supports connection of Bluetooth headsets only; it does not support data connections.
One of the unique features of the iPhone is that its features and applications can be enhanced via software updates, so it may be possible at some point in the future.

(january2010) I can say that the bluetooth of iphone (3GS) is not 100% compatible with other mobile phones or computers (neither between the apple products) the apple is pointing on different applications which concentrate on wireless usage and/or the mms systems.
