It depends on the state in question. In some states, such as New York, one must be 21 years old to purchase and own a handgun. In other states, such as Texas, an 18 year old may possess a handgun and keep it in his house or car.
Yes, as of April 2, 2008 Gov. Sanford signed bill H 4364 into law allowing 18 year olds to posses handguns. However you still have to be 21 to purchase a handgun from anyone that has a Federal Firearms License (FFL) as stated in federal law. This means that you can have one, but you cannot buy it from a gun store.

21. Same in every state, according to federal law.
It depends, you can be 18 if you are purchasing from someone that doesn't have an FFL License...meaning they don't sell handguns.
The 21 year old rule only applies when purchasing from an FFL Dealer such as a pawn shop, Cabela's, or another gun store.
You can go to your local Sheriff's office and apply for a Permit to Carry a Concealed Pistol for $10, at least that's what it was 4 years ago.
I am going to be a cop, i have a permit now, alot with a legally owned Glock 22.
So I'm not sure who said "21. Same in every state, according to federal law.", but they don't know the law apparently.
18. When under instruction with the permission of a parent/ guardian, there is no limit on age. This is the SC law-
SECTION 16-23-30. Sale or delivery of handgun to and possession by certain persons unlawful; stolen handguns.
(A) It is unlawful for a person to knowingly sell, offer to sell, deliver, lease, rent, barter, exchange, or transport for sale into this State any handgun to:

(2) a person who is a member of a subversive organization;
(3) a person under the age of eighteen, but this shall not apply to the issue of handguns to members of the Armed Forces of the United States, active or reserve, National Guard, State Militia, or R. O. T. C., when on duty or training or the temporary loan of handguns for instructions under the immediate supervision of a parent or adult instructor; or...............
21 years old to puchase a hand gun and 18 for rifle or shotgun
This guy is wrong you may be 18 to purchase a hand gun in sc
Federal law is 18 for long guns and 21 for handguns.
it is illegal for any person under the age of 21 to buy or pocess a pistol or pistol ammunition in the state of Florida.
Federal law dictates that you must be 21 to purchase a handgun.
You will have to talk to a lawyer for a legal, correct and current answer on what "own" means in SC.
21
According to census.gov, the median age of people in South Carolina is 37.3 years of age (2007).
South Carolina's legal age of majority is eighteen.
State law does not give an age. But under that section it states if you are "prohibited by law from possessing a firearm" you can not carry a handgun in your vehicle (among others). Under Federal law it states someone under 18 can not possess a handgun without parental consent. So it is a safe bet that you can not carry a handgun in your vehicle if under 18.
In the state of South Carolina, you can legally leave your parents house without consent when you reach the age of majority. In South Carolina that is age 18.
In the U.S. you have to be 21 in most states to get a handgun carry permit.
In South Carolina, you must at least 21 years old to purchase a knife. You also are not supposed to even carry a knife if you are under 21 years old.
The age ot leave home is the age of majority. In South Carolina this is 18 years old.
The law defined "age of majority" in South Carolina is clearly set at 18 years of age.
It depends on which states. In most states, you have to be at least 21, but in some, it's 18.
there is not a legal age for babysitting it is up to the parents and what the feel comfortable with
18
It depends on where you are, and what the weapon is. In Tennessee, for instance, basically anyone can carry a knife if it has a blade less than 4 inches long. However, to carry a handgun, you must be 21 or older and have a handgun carry permit.
