It depends on the state, in Kentucky, even if you have applied for any social security benefits you are not intitled to any workmans comp. money. I would advise you to search the web. Put in your state, Workmans Compensation laws and keep looking you will find your answer.

Workman Comp and UnemploymentNot in the State of Michigan. Not sure about other states, but I highly doubt you can collect both at the same time anywhere.

Addendum:

Think about it.... No state in the Union (at least for now) would even entertain a notion of paying unemployment to someone collecting workman's comp insurance. To collect unemployment you must be able to work and looking for work. If you're able to work, you would no longer be covered under Workman's Comp.

As a former NYS Lic. Insurance agent in Accident & Health, from my understanding if is a disability policy which has been paid for after tax dollars without any employer contribution and is considered an indemnity policy short term paying a fixed benefit daily, weekly, or monthly for specific period of time, my understanding is that it pays above and beyond any other income or benefits you receive.

From my prior knowledge as a Licensed NYS Insurance agent I believe this to be valid.

You must read your policy for exclusions:

I recommend you contact your Workman's Compensation Office and clarify this Information, for the could have changed.

Generally a person can only received workman's compensation when they are disabled on the job, and subsequently are unable to perform said job for a period of time. If the person is able to perform their job to collect their salary, they would likely be ineligible for workman's compensation.
