It is perfectly safe to eat healthily and take a moderate amount of exercise while pregnant. If you are 30 pounds overweight you should not attempt to lose any weight, just maintain the weight you are now and after the baby is born you will lose most of the excess in one go. Eat healthily for one, not for two. Walking is excellent for pregnant women as it keeps the blood moving thereby reducing many of the minor problems of pregnancy like varicose veins and constipation. If towards the end of pregnancy it just gets too uncomfortable, or you are already a water baby, swimming is a perfect exercise as it reduces the weight of the bump and the strain on your feet, legs and back. Your doctor may be able to refer you a dietician who can help you manage your eating. As a midwife I once looked after a woman who at 5'4" got pregnant weighing 154 pounds. With the help of a dietician she maintained this weight throughout her pregnancy (despite dire warnings from her mother) and had a baby boy weighing 10 pounds 5 ounces (Ouch)
yes. to answer your question plainy. Women who do hard core work outs before they are pregnant usually continue to work out until 7-8/12 months. you can work out till your due date but it is difficult to figure out how to with the big belly! :)

if you want to start working out when you become pregnant start out with some light walking and slight stretches. i am not an expert so please make a doctor app. to know what you should be doing. working out is also good for the baby. losing weight during pregnancy is possible, but please dint hurt yourself. as i said do light workouts ranging from 15-45 minutes. consult your docor if you are unsure.
