Can you convert a manual to an automatic? |
[Edit] |
Answer
YES, a lot easier than auto to manual.
Answer
changing the transmission is the easiest part then you have do all the laying in the floor board under the dash to get rid of the clutch pedal and that's not easy for a big guy in a little car, if your big take out the drivers side seat it's alot easier to manuver. Then change the linkage and shifter and maybe the ratio on the speedometer cable gear.oh ya you cross member may need a little adjustment
Answer
And don't forget to get a radiator with transmission cooling line connections.
Answer
The conversion is much more complex. 1:) the cross membre will not work from a manual. You will need one from an automatic because of its geometrical slope, You have to change the flywheel, add the torque converter and pretty much the backing plates as well as other hardware from "doner"
I just did the conversion, Toook the auto from my 1991, and put it in my 89
