Maybe you can disown a family member. What if you're just tired of watching that person make bad choices, and these bad choices cause you so much worry and stress that your own health is compromised? What if they just throw your concern back in your face time and time again? I'm on the verge of disowning my only sister. Well i just disowned my only sister tonight! we should start a club... sisters without sisters... i got tired of the controlling, manipulative, selfish, irrational behavior.. took me years to come to the choice but life is too short and a title doesn't permit someone to cause another stress.
It is very difficult, if you are sensitive.
You can't actually disown a family member. You can either tell her to stop being so disrespectful to you because of how it is hurting you or you can just stop talking to her. Don't let her see that it bothers you. You can't choose your family members but you can pick who you spend your time with :) Keep your head up!
If he's your boyfriend, he can't "disown" them because he doesn't "own" them; he's not family.
You shouldn't ever disown a member of your family.Regardless of what they do, their family should always be there for them. One's family is their innate undeserved support system. When something life altering happens to a person (ie. unplanned pregnancy, drug abuse, etc.) they need to know that they are not alone if they are going to get through it. Family is the most basic unit of society and therefore must thrive for government and such to function correctly/justly. We all mess up (big sometimes) and we all deserve a second chance. Friends leave, romance fades, but family is bound by blood forever.
within spanish culture it is natural to be very close with your extended family, as it brings a spirit/feeling of unity, which they believe is good, having a close family means you have alot of people to turn to or to help out, that is why if one member of the family does something bad and is rejected by an elder of the family, usually the grandparent, the whole family may completely disown that previous member.
One reason is because of all your relationships "family" is the most forgiving in most cases. If your own family would disown you then it's a sign that maybe no one else would either. That's given that the family isn't wrong in the first place. Could be the family is the fault and the family member is correct but society usually goes with the bias of averages and holds that "Most families on AVERAGE" are functional. But that's my bias...... So take with a grain of salt
you gotta disown that truck
One sentence using the word disown could be: "If you don't raise my grandchildren "properly", I'll disown you!"
One sentence using the word disown could be: "I'll disown you if you ever use bad language!"
I would disown my son if he were a murderer.
The only way you can disown a wolf is to kill it.
Nothing like that has ever been mentioned on the show. Christine's family is also polygamist so chances are they did not.
