Can you do a credit repair in 72 hours? In: Personal Finance |
[Edit] |
There are certain mortgage brokers that can get credit mistakes corrected in 5-8 days if you have the right paperwork. All letters have to be typed, on the company's letterhead with your name, address and account number if there is one, or the letter states that you in particular do not have a collection account with them. If there are collection accounts showing open and with a balance--don't pay they off if you are planning to buy or refinance a house. You get letters stating what they will settle for or what the balance is--make sure you have a first and last name with an ext., in order to reach that same person (which may be hard to do). These collections you pay at close because it will only hurt your credit at the moment.
If the accounts are not yours, or you can prove you never went past due. You will also get a typed letter on their letterhead, stating just that and that they are going to report the change to all 3 repositories.
Find a broker that works with landsafe--letters will be faxed along with their Credit Bureau update form. Normally, the letters will be verified, all 3 repositories will be corrected and scores will be fixed.
Remember--any collection accounts that are paid today will lower the scores because you just updated a bad account with a current date--"new history"--don't do it unless you are doing something financial right now. If you aren't doing anything financial for more than 2 months, then pay the collections.
Answer
Not certain what you mean by "repair." If you mean correcting a mistake. No, it takes a minimum of 30-60 days possibly longer to remove any errors.
