Since iTunes doesn't recognize the ancient operating system, you could try plugging the iPod in, and then finding it as a USB device. (In the control panel, or where-ever you can locate any USB devices plugged into the system) Then, you can instead, legally purchase music off an online store (Like amazon music) and drag and drop the song you purchased into the iPod's USB. You may have to look through the folders in the iPod USB connection, for example, go through and attempt to find the music folder. It's recommended you use a tutorial from a website like YouTube and search something like, "how do you put music on an ipod through usb connection" -- I'm not a professional, but this is an idea!
