Both alcohol and amoxicillin are metabolized in the liver and exert a lot of stress on it. It is not recommended to combine antibiotics and alcohol as it can have potentially life threatening implications.

You shouldn't. Why bother taking the pill just to destroy its effectiveness? Your prescription should have come with specific instructions outlining restrictions or warnings about alcohol and other substances. Check for those restrictions and follow them.

check out this link. It says to be careful as it doesnt "usually" cause side effects, but I've just been prescribed with it (so I did a little digging)...Im gonna have a couple tonight but keeping this in mind. :-)

Yes! There is a common myth that alcohol mixed with antibiotics, such as Amoxicillin, causes interactions. This is not the case. While medical professionals will advise an individual taking an antibiotic to avoid alcohol it does not cause any interactions or pose a risk to the individuals health. The idea is that if you are sick enough to take antibiotics that you should not be drinking alcohol until you are well. There are no known drug interactions associated with Amoxicillin. There is also a belief that Amoxicillin is less effective when taken in combination of drinking alcohol, this too is untrue.
