Totally depends on why you are doing the water fast in the first place. Drinking green tea, or any other variation of tea for that matter, could stimulate the taste sensation, making it all the more difficult to stay the course. Each person is different, for some, drinking the tea will not have any adverse effects, yet for others, sticking to zero taste during the fast is easiest. It all comes down to personal preference and the very reason as to why you are fasting.
When ordered to fast prior to a blood test, it is important that no food or drink is ingested. Any intake may alter the test results, even stimulation of digestive enzymes can alter your blood work, so no beverages are advised.
