absolutely If you gather the eggs daily the process will not really have started enough that you would know. It takes 21 days from start to finish (egg to chick) and many factors will slow and even stop the embryo from forming Cold is one main reason so collection daily and putting them in the refrigerator ensures that a fertilized egg will be as good as the unfertilized ones. A fertile egg needs temps of 99+ degrees and high humidity to get going. This is provided by the hen or an incubator. Its not a good practice but even leaving the eggs in the nest for a day or two (no more) is usually safe.
In answer to this question I would have to ask another question.

Who says you can't?

My reason for this is that people consume fertilized (spelled with a "z") eggs all the time. I live in Honduras and people have roosters and hens running around freely in their yards here. They do not keep the hens away from the roosters to prevent fertilization and, although they do allow the hens, from time to time, to sit on a clutch of eggs to hatch them, they eat eggs from all the hens indiscriminately at other times.

Likewise, there is a Philipino delicacy called Balut, which consists of chilled, fertilized duck eggs that have been given the opportunity to develop into almost-ready-to-hatch ducklings before consumption.

So in short, you CAN consume fertilized eggs.

Absolutely. As long as the embryo hasn't started growing (in other words, as long as a hen hasn't sat on, or 'brooded' the egg for a few days), eating fertilized eggs is perfectly safe, even if the egg has been incubated by a hen for one or two days. Homesteaders, people with pet chickens, and anyone with hens and roosters do it all the time.

Fertilised hen eggs are egss that have been fertilised by a male chicken or also known as rooster.Hen eggs without fertilisation by the males will not hatch into little chicks but it will be a normal egg we eat everyday. So the eggs we buy from the supermarket will not hatch into chicks, even though you put it in an incubator it will not hatch. The hen eggs will only hatch if the males fertilise them. The fertilised hen eggs will take about 25 days to hatch.

no you can not cook a fertile egg, well unless you want to cook a unborn bird. if a egg is laid fertile than the inner part of the egg will be completely reformed from the normal egg you know and love to eat.

Yes, you can certainly eat fertile eggs. Fertile eggs are when a rooster fertilizes a hen's eggs. Whether an egg is fertilized or not does not affect its taste. What affects an egg's taste is the hen's diet. A hen that has the opportunity to forage and catch bugs will have a richer, better flavor than one that is captive in a factory farm.

There are people, like those of Filipino or Asian descent, that even have partially incubated eggs in their diet. But if you didn't grow up with Asian foods, eating balut might be out of your food "comfort zone." Balut eggs, considered a delicacy, are fertilized eggs (generally duck eggs) that contain partially developed embryos.

you can consume fertilized eggs just like the unfertilized. We sometimes find just a small spot of blood in a fertilized egg. It does not affect the taste but if you prefer you can just use a spoon and remove the spot the best you are able.

You can eat fertilized duck eggs, just like you can eat fertilized chicken eggs. If you do, you risk finding a partially developed duck inside, but they are not harmful.

What is a dud egg from a chicken?

Many people raise chickens for their eggs. When the chicken lays the eggs and egg that is not fertilized is referred to as a dud egg. These are the eggs we get in the market. If the egg is fertilized, you will get a chick.

Why is a chicken egg a fertilized egg?

Not all chicken eggs are fertilized. Any egg that a chicken lays will be unfertilized unless there is a rooster around to fertilize the egg while it is inside the chicken.Chicken eggs are fertilized when a rooster is in with the hens. The rooster will breed with the hens to continute the chicken species. This is why eggs are fertilized. If you do not want your eggs fertilized, all you need to do is pull out the rooster, or roosters if there are more than one. This will cause the chickens to lya unfertilized eggs. When an egg is fertile it means it was in the beginning stage of hosting a baby. Basically, it is an egg from a hen that had previously had sex with a rooster. You probably don't want to think about that before eating them though. They are the most nutritious form of egg to eat.

What is a fertilized chicken egg?

A fertilized chicken egg is an egg that has the ability to be hatched. Normal store eggs can't be but eggs from a farmer usually can be. The fertilized part just means the hen was around a rooster and he inseminated her. So now there is a sperm in the chicken egg. Hence the fertilized part.

Why wouldn't eggs in the store hatch even if they were incubated?

They aren't fertilized. A non-fertilized chicken egg is like a non-fertilized human female egg; only half of the equation.

Are unfertilized chicken eggs OK to eat?

Yes, If you had a fertilized egg it would be developing into a chick. Unfertilized eggs are the ones you buy in the stores.

A fertilized chicken egg is considered diploid, while an unfertilized chicken egg is haploid. Chickens are diploid when you are considering chromosomes.
