No. It would have to take another super-power nation like the former USSR and Red China to support a less powerful nation (like North Vietnam) to fight a "national cause" (like communism was) and the US would have to have the same "determination" (which does not exist, except for fighting terrorism, which is UNIDENTIFIABLE).
1. The super powers caused the limited war; via threat of atomic war.
2. Without those super powers, there's no threat of nuclear war.
3. Without a surrogate nation to do the fighting, theres no war.
4. Without the ability to identify the enemy, there's no need for an army, marines, navy, nor air force to be there...AS AN ARMY, MARINE, AIR FORCE, or NAVY. Those forces exist to fight other Armies, Navies, Air Forces, etc. What they have become is a "World Police Force."

See: Statistics About the Vietnam War Note* When you see the data on the "volunteers" for the US military, remember...those were DRAFT "Induced" volunteers. Another words, they would NOT have volunteered, if there had been no draft.
Because no one else ever did see another loyal bird like the Crested Caracara.
