Can a Mexican without a Passport fly to Mexico with just a birth certificate or a Mexican drivers lic?

I believe that all you need to go to Mexico is your driver's license (that's all we've used to drive there)...if you are a US born American citizen. However, if you are not a US born American citizen...you'll require further documentation. I do not suggest taking your original birth certificate with you when you travel. A passport is a better option and easier to replace if lost or stolen. Starting 2006 you will need to have a valid passport to travel between Mexico and the USA As of now, you need a passport, and a drivers license to go thru the airport customs.
According to the U.S. governments travel website and the department of homeland security, a passport is required to re-enter the USA by air. Land travel requires proof of identity and citizenship until June 1,2009 at which time a passport will be necessary. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technically the above is correct BUT you willl have extreme difficulty boarding ANY International flight without having a passport as ID at check-in. After June 2009 the airlines have become really hard nosed about this. An " enhanced " drivers liscense is NOT a passport and will not be accepted at the airport .... those things are only for "driving " to Mexico or Canada BUT be warned, althought Mexico will maybe allow you in without a passort ( how much are you willing to pay as a bribe ? ) the U.S. Immigration will NOT allow you back into the U.S. without a passport Money buys anything in Mexico
