Can you get herpes by kissing? |

Herpes: The Kissing Disease
Yes. Herpes can spread through kissing.
Do not think that the boy or girl you're kissing has to have visible sores. There is a myth that if the sores are gone herpes cannot be transmitted. It can be spread through kissing regardless if the sores are present or not at the time.
Herpes cannot be spread if there are no sores present. If you kiss someones genitals who has sores you probably will end up with herpes. If you kiss someone who is having an attack on the lips you will not get herpes (assuming they have no sores on their lips). You should not touch their genitals and then touch yours. I have had herpes for 17yrs, during this time I have had many attacks and regular sex throughout. If I am having an attack we use a condom, my man has never caught it. If an infected person applies zovirax cream as soon as they feel a tingle then usually no sores appear, you can also get tablets on prescription.
I know when I am going to have an attack as I get a pain in my head first, I cannot describe this as a headache. I also get shooting pains down my legs. I find the sun brings on an attack and also being run down or lack of sleep, although the sun is definately the main catalyst for an attack.
