Can you get pregnant after being on the depo shot? |

Pregnancy After Being on the Depo Shot
If you are on the Depo shot for more than five years it can cause a woman to be sterile, but I have heard of women getting pregnant while on the shot, mostly because it doesn't go into effect until one month after you have it. After you are off of the shot it can take years for your body to "get back to normal." I know, because it took two years for my period to get regular after the shots I was on for three years.
More comments and information from WikiAnswers contributors:
- Please note that it is possible that doctors have proven that the Depo shot does not make women sterile as the above paragraph states.
- It is so normal for people to have stomach aches, but it's hard to say. I know that when my boyfriend accidently "goofed"...I had the worst stomach ache ever. Not sure if it's because I just "knew" i was pregnant now...or if I was just upset about it. Like all birth controls, Depo is different for everyone. Being on Depo for Five years DOES NOT make you steril. My Sister just had a baby after being on it for 8 years. It took her six months to get pregnate and she was 35. Not too bad.
