Answer by sawboy_buck

Xanax is a prescription drug because it is known to be addictive and to have undesirable side effects on humans. I don't think it advisable to just give your dog Xanax when there are available alternatives made specifically for canines. Your best bet would be to visit your vet and ask him/her directly. Better safe than sorry.

Answer

Xanax can be given to dogs, but only your vet would be able to give you proper dosing based on your dog's weight and age.
